That Girl

For some reason I was in college. I've been in college for about 3 or 4 months. And the term had already ended, so I was heading back to KL.

I had made a few new friends. I was talking to a group of them. We were all joking and laughing, and everything seemed fine. Suddenly something felt like it was out of place. One of my new friends, who was actually quite funny and was cracking jokes, suddenly fell silent and left the group.

He walked away towards his dorm. Silent and expressionless. I asked the others why. I asked if he was not feeling well or something. The others told me he was always like that. One moment high, then later low. They told me not to think too much about it.

But I did.

So I went to his room to check on him. I knocked, but there was no response. I went into the room an saw him. He was just standing there. Still not speaking or changing his still expression. His room was empty of course, since everyone was heading home for term break.

Then I noticed a little girl in the room. She had really long black hair, pale white skin and eyes like a cat (Typical features of a ghost, except for the eyes part). I was kinda freaked out. So I asked him who she was, no response.

Then she touched me. Just one light touch on my arm.

In KL, I was with my sister. We were all alone at home. My little sister, me and the girl. She doesn't say much, but we know what she wants. She doesn't have to say it. We just can feel it somehow.

Usually she wants food. So my sister (who was also touched) had to follow her every demand as well. We were both frightened of her. We felt tired as her presence drained our energy to allow her to survive.

My aunt came over one night. She saw the girl with us and dragged her downstairs.

"Don't touch her! She's dangerous!"

She didn't seem to have much effect on my aunt. I guess she only harms children.

Moments later, my sister and I headed downstairs. We saw a whole pile of those girls on our dining room table. My grandfather had killed them all! Hooray!

The girl makes duplicates of herself after touching a person. She does it to drain their youth and energy to allow her to survive. But thanks to my grandfather, she's dead!

My mum came home. Where was she this whole time?! My sister and I were both a bit annoyed as we were in so much fear and she was not there. We told her what had happened, and she said "Oh, THAT GIRL? I thought she was our pet. I'll always feed her when she gets whinny".

Ryu

There were many things I was unsure of. But one thing was certain, Upsetting her was not a good idea.

Ryu was 15. She lived with her parents and had friends who she would spend most of her time with.

She had a dream. To fly away form the town she was living in and make her parents proud. She wanted to fly planes. Or at least be in one. Working. Part of the crew. It gave her excitement to imagine one day she will part of the skies.

She would proudly tell her friends about her ambitions, and they would listen in awe. Ryu and her fiends would spend nights out together, sometimes past their curfew. This would worry their parents and naturally they would report their child's absence to the police.

Ryu and her friends agreed that if they ever see lights of hear sirens they would separate, and run as if their lives depended on it. Save yourself.

True enough, one night, lights appeared. Ryu ran towards the forest and didn't stop. She kept running and running. She must have fallen asleep there in the forest as she woke up among the leaves and grass.

Ryu headed back to her town. She was lost. She couldn't find it. It was gone. Ryu searched but failed. All that was left was just gravel and soil.

It was a bomb. Voices echoed in her head. No one survived. I'm so sorry.

Ryu is now all grown up. With an ambition to become a pilot. She lives with her aunt.

For some reason in her mind, she is still 15 and will forever be. Her parents are still by her side. Her friends, still carefree and there to play with her.

Her aunt told me this, while I stared at Ryu.

It was too weird for me to handle. So I ditched them.

Sambalina

One day, I was in the school canteen with my sisters and cousins. We were chit chatting waiting for our food to be ready.

Then my Aunt came in sight. She brought a plate of Nasi Lemak and said "Keep an eye on Harez okay, while I get drinks". Yes, baby Harez was kept in a plate of Nasi Lemak and for some reason he was about the size of my pointer. Didn't ask or argue about it though. He was sleeping in the rice. So comfy and warm.

Our biggest concern was to keep Harez away from the sambal. You see, he was not ready to taste the spicy sambal.

Harez was asleep, so we continued our conversation. Come on, a finger size baby couldn't get into that much trouble, right?

We were WRONG!

When we checked the plate, Harez was gone!

We started freaking out as it was very difficult to find him. He was so tiny. After moments of panic we spotted that little munchkin. He was not far from the table we were sitting on.

He was covered in anchovies but he was fine. We let out a sigh of relief. Harez was giggling and smiling as usual.

However, the food we ordered sure is taking a long time. Hmm.
